Papers of Ora Delmer Foster, 1895-1960.

The papers of Ora Delmer Foster document his life and career. Autobiographical memoirs and diaries provide insights into Foster's private life. Six boxes of correspondence, spanning seventy years, contain both personal and professional material. Included here are letters from M. Willard Lampe. Many of Dr. Foster's writings (on Latin America, Mexico, religion, etc.) appear in manuscript form with typescript drafts and notes. The University of Iowa's School of Religion is the subject of one entire box. Along with this historical material are notes, lectures, and memoirs relating to courses Dr. Foster taught at Iowa. Subject files document Foster's work with a number of organizations ranging from Comrades in Service to the North American Board for the Study of Religion in Higher Education.
